20 of 23 OSC operational in J&K: GoI | KNO

Srinagar, Dec 5 (KNO): Union Ministry of Women and Child Development Thursday informed the Lok Sabha that Jammu and Kashmir has a total of 23 One Stop Centres (OSCs) approved under the Nirbhaya Fund out of which 20 are operational. As per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the data presented in response to a parliamentary question states that J&K continues to expand its support infrastructure for women affected by violence. OSCs provide integrated services including medical aid, legal assistance, temporary shelter, police support and psycho-social counselling under the Mission Shakti scheme. According to the Ministry, the Central Government provides 100 percent financial assistance to UTs for staffing and running the centres round-the-clock. Financial records show that J&K received Rs 218.84 lakh in 2020–21, followed by Rs 323.09 lakh in 2021–22, Rs 335.96 lakh in 2023–24 and Rs 470.88 lakh in 2024–25 for the OSC scheme. “No funds were released in 2022–23.” The Ministry also informed that 655 out of the 864 operational OSCs across the country have been integrated with Women’s Helpline 181. “State, UT administrations are responsible for ensuring 24×7 operations and adequate staffing at each centre—(KNO)
